UK gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.3% in January, according to the latest official figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Friday. Higher school attendance and the return of Premier League football helped growth return after a 0.5% contraction in December, though quarterly figures show that the economy stagnated between November and January compared with the previous three months.
