This week John Healey delivered his first major speech as Chancellor, business confidence increases by 4 points, the latest data on the manufacturing and services sectors is out and an update on savings.
- The Chancellor has acknowledged financial conditions are difficult but his “first priority” is to control borrowing and reduce pressure
- However, UK business confidence reached a five-month high last month, increasing to 53%, the highest level since March
- The UK manufacturing sector stalled slightly last month, but there was moderate expansion of the overall service sector output
